When you know that chocolate represents 80% of marbles (Dark, Milk and Coconut) and 50% of almonds! Every bite contributes to the Cacao Horizons program.
World cocoa production is carried out by millions of small farms, which is why the focus is on 3 areas of action:
- Productivity: train to work better to fight against poverty more in a sustainable dynamic. Cutting, replanting, better pest control, enriching the soil with cross-cropping... lending equipment, sharing best practices. Farmers can thus produce more on a small surface, in a more sustainable way and have a better income for their family, their community.
- Community: capitalize on women and education, eradicate child labour. A key element is the creation and strengthening of Village Savings and Credit Associations (AVEC). This activity makes it possible, among other things, to promote a child-centred approach, to strengthen the self-confidence of women and to offer financing solutions to farmers.
- Environment: create a deforestation-free and carbon-positive cocoa supply chain. Farmers who earn a decent income from improved cocoa production are much less likely to exploit new land through deforestation. Monitoring of vegetation cover by GPS, cartography, support programs and checks have thus been put in place.
